It’s time to exercise your ability to go with the flow. If you’re a person who loves to doodle–to draw– or even a glass artist who wants to take their craft to the next level – listen up!

In this two-session workshop, you’ll explore intuitive drawing on glass– a process that blends fused glass with responsive linework. Glass can have a tendency to shift, blend, or even turn a different color… and instead of fighting that, we’re going to lean into it.

You’ll start by creating a sample piece to get a feel for the medium. Then, you’ll design and build a larger 8×10 fused glass panel, which can be anything from an abstract composition to a loose landscape. There’s no glass experience necessary here, this workshop is for everyone!

Once your pieces are fired, we move into the second session the following week, where we star tto exercise our ability to let go & and go with!

Using Glassline paints, you’ll begin to draw directly onto your glass, outlining and enhancing the shapes that naturally formed during firing. This exercise isn’t about forseeing the end result—it’s about seeing what’s there and bringing it forward with linework.

What to Expect:
🔹 Create 1 sample piece + 1 finished 8×10 panel
🔹 Learn how glass shifts and reacts in the kiln
🔹 Explore intuitive, responsive drawing techniques using Glassline Paints
🔹 An exercise in problem solving & patience
🔹 Step-by-step guidance in an incredibly chill enviroment

What’s Included:
✅ All glass, materials, and tools
✅ Kiln firing
✅ Instruction and creative support

Dates:
April 19th & 26th
11:30 AM – 2:30 PM

What is intuitive drawing on glass?

Great question!

This technique is all about response over control. This is a workshop where we focus on letting it just happen. Whatever comes to you.  Instead of sketching out a rigid plan and making everything perfect, you allow the kiln & glass to play a role in your illustration process. For this, there’s no need to pre-plan this design, but you are allowed to have a concept! It’s all up to you, and your instructor, Jenna, will guide you on your path! As the glass melts, colors can blend, edges soften, and your piece may change. Maybe a shift in color becomes a tree line… Maybe a shape turns into something completely unexpected… You’ll learn how to outline, define, and enhance those forms through intuitive linework.

In the second session, you’ll use your fired piece as a guide to draw with Glassline paints to define forms, suggest imagery, and enhance what’s already there.

It is reccomended that you should like to draw before you take this workshop!

A bit about Jenna, your instructor:

You’ll be led through the intuitive process by Jenna Palermo, who has worked with us at the studio for over 5 years! She’s been teaching stained & fused glass in that time, and loves to merge together her two favorite mediums – illustration & glass. Jenna is a process based artist – she detests a solid plan & loves to go with the flow. Her work often features landscapes, organic forms, & melancholic collaged ideas of things. Her work revolves more about what you feel when you’re making the work than the actual result.

With a strong emphasis on intuition and experimentation, Jenna encourages students to loosen up, trust their instincts, and discover new ways of seeing their work. Whether you’re brand new to glass or looking to break out of a more structured approach, this workshop with her is designed to be both accessible and creatively freeing– a nice break from the pressure of making something perfect.
