This weekend we welcome in our next guest Artist for our First Saturday Artist Spotlight event. Sarah Schneiderman will be showing her pieces “All Fish, All the Time.”
Here is a little bit about Sarah:
All Fish, All the Time is a result of my love for scuba diving and my deep concern about the environment, especially how much trash we generate.
I started diving in 2013 after I retired from corporate life. I fell in love with the creatures found in the oceans. I learned that coral reefs are dying and water temperatures are rising. Having a history of creating art out of found objects and trash, I followed this path into making representational artwork of the fish I’d seen while diving. These pieces reveal the beauty and sometimes the terror of sea life. Underlying the beauty, I address the overabundance of trash, especially in our oceans, by using found and recycled objects as my medium. This includes the debris of daily life and things people have given me such as bead and button collections, lampshades, and piano parts.
I intend for my audience to see beauty and get joy from my work and get a greater appreciation of and respect for our climate and the need to reduce the amount of trash we generate.
Please come out to the studio from 5-8pm to meet Sarah and see her beautiful work. There will be light snacks and refreshments. Parking is limited due to a concert in the Downtown Seymour area, so please park in the parking lots around Historic Downtown Seymour. We hope to see you there!
